NIMBY!!!!
Put it in Laois or Clare or some other county where I don't live.
Plus didn't they build a wind farm on the land that was originally bought for the plant.

Theres a thing on tv about it now aswell.
About that 70's proposal; they were going to build one there but there was a huge protest that went on for a couple of days christy moore played at it, harry krishas banged there tamborines at hit, Irish hippies got stoned the punks got pissed, it was a great success and they did build a wind farm there
I'd have to agree with robbie, as long as they don't put anywhere near me, we already have all the shit running out from sellafield into Irish waters, we're getting a raw deal here
They should learn how to use it propellerly so theres no more Chernobyl's
but the real problem lies in what to do with the waste? the best idea they've had so far was to bury it deep under the ground, a round of applause please, *clap clap* well done! ya fucking gobshites, what a half arsed approach to the problem

Wind energy is the solution. Look at where we live, we have an amazing natural energy resource blowing right over our heads, literally. Wind energy would easily supplement 60% of our energy needs, handy, plus it's not going to destroy the environment.
Nuclear will probably be the way to go in the future though, as soon as it becomes safe. Scientists have done far more amazing things than figure out how to deal with nuclear energy safely, and I think that itll become safer and safer. It's a volatile thing to try mess with but so was fire when it was first harnessed.
The problem is though that, instead of putting millions of dollars into ensuring Nuclear Energy can be implemented safely and sustainably in the future, governments will look to the most cost effective solution: Ie. keeping it as dangerous and toxic, and then just burying the waste or just blasting it into space. Corruption!
Wind energy in Ireland for the time being, nuclear energy if (or even when) it becomes less of a threat.

i agree with nailer here
wind energy is brilliant and it could easily supply 60% of the energy but nuclear could probally supply for the whole country. sure there is a danger but nuclear plants have become safer since Chernobyl. the world has learnt alot from that but then again there is still more to learn about the nuclear energy

i know nuclear power is supposed to be very safe these days but i mean theres still that chance that if something were to go slightly wrong we would be all fucked. and the waste it creates aswell wouldnt help anything
